On the 4th of March 2022, FOTBOT had the incredible pleasure of hosting our 4th annual Northern reception and dinner at the Northern Counties Club in Newcastle, accompanied by some thrilling speeches. The event was an annual fundraising dinner, where this year we were raising money to build a new children's playground on Montserrat.
It began with a brilliant speech by FOTBOT Chief Executive Philip Smith, who reminded everyone gathered in the room that this years goal is focused on the island of Montserrat, which has seen much hardship in its recent history.
The keynote speech given by Andrew Gwynne MP, who was attending the event alongside his colleague Sharon Hodgson MP. He talked of how he has got stuck in with FOTBOT since becoming our second Parliamentary Advisor last year, and how greatly he wishes for Parliament to learn about the Overseas Territories and FOTBOT.
The dinner was a great success and will be remembered for a while thanks to the efforts of preparation by committee members Nick Sundin, Oliver Wilderspin and Sarah Cooper-Lesadd. It was an amazing evening, not forgetting the core reason for it, to keep pushing towards our goal of increasing awareness of the 300,000 British Citizen living in the sixteen British Overseas Territories. We also believe in the young generation, ergo the importance of both education and conservation.
